UL, LLC Tax Analyst in Northbrook, Illinois

This role is HYBRID, on-site 3 days a week at our Northbrook or Chicago, IL Office.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Tax Analyst to join our Global Tax department to support US domestic and Canadian compliance and tax accounting functions. This person will join a team of tax enthusiasts that keep up to date on tax technical skills and tax technology to drive advanced automated solutions and efficiencies. As a Tax Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with tax regulations and optimizing tax strategies. You will work closely with the finance team to analyze financial data, prepare tax returns, tax filings and supporting documentation, and provide valuable insights to support decision-making processes.

In this role, you will work with the tax manager and other management to assure Federal and state/local U.S. tax compliance requirements are met accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare various state and federal tax returns and analyze financial data and tax accounts as needed.

  • Prepare quarterly federal and state estimated tax and extension calculations.

  • Assist with the US tax provision portion for financial statement income tax disclosures.

  • Prepare account reconciliations for federal and state income tax and non-income tax accounts.

  • Prepare various indirect tax filings including property tax returns and business tax license renewals.

  • Support state and local tax manager with state income and non-income tax audits.

  • Assist in collecting and analyzing data for monthly sales & use tax filings prepared by outside service provider.

  • Support Canadian income tax function by analyzing and providing data to outside service provider for income and non-income tax returns, calculating estimated tax payments, and assisting with audits as needed.

  • Assist with process improvement projects related to tax forecasting and provision workstreams utilizing technology-driven solutions to streamline, improve process efficiencies.

  • Assist with various projects such as research and development tax credit study and US state and federal tax liability and attribute modeling for various strategic initiatives and future planning.

Professional Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field - with CPA, MST a plus.

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in either public accounting or mid-to-large size industry.

  • Solid project and process management skills.

  • Self-starter that possesses strong communication, organization, problem solving and analytical skills and can multi-task with accuracy and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to drive projects and assigned work to completion.

  • Solid understanding of tax and financial software applications and platforms, preferred.
