Title: Royalty Accountant
Reports to: Sr. Manager, Royalties & Licensing
Location: New York, NY
Purpose of Role: Responsible for the proper execution of 3rd party royalty payments and reports as well as administration of intercompany royalties. Position requires excellent interpersonal and organizational skills as well as proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to thrive in a fast- paced work environment.
Prepare third party royalty reporting and payments on a timely basis; Respond to inquiries from third party licensors and marketing personnel on royalty calculations and provide additional information upon request.
Prepare monthly intercompany royalty invoices
Assist with booking monthly third party and intercompany royalty accruals as well as other intercompany service charges
Prepare quarterly government reports timely and accurately.
Book Plan (budget) third party and intercompany royalty journal entries three to four times annually.
Obtain and review supporting documentation for external Licensor audits
Prepare ad hoc requests as needed to assist the team and management in understanding third party royalty expense.
Ability to deal with diverse levels of financial and operating personnel in a multi-national organization and multiple 3rd party organizations.
Ability to manage workload with competing deadlines.
Ability to work independently and develop creative solutions to problems.
Must pay close attention to detail and accuracy given size of royalty payments and legal exposures.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or similar field.
2-5 years business experience. Experience in royalty and license accounting is not required but is a plus.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, particularly in dealing with manipulating large volumes of data via pivot tables, Vlookups, etc.; Must be comfortable with learning new systems; exposure to Hyperion is very desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills to deal with international inter-company locations and third party designers on a frequent basis.
