RELX INC Software Asset Manager in Manila, Philippines

The Software Asset Manager plays a pivotal role in the strategic management and optimization of software assets across the organization. This critical position ensures compliance with licensing agreements, enhances operational efficiency and drives cost-effectiveness through meticulous oversight of software licenses, adherence to vendor agreements, and proactive collaboration across departments.

Roles and Responsibilities:

This role involves comprehensive management of the software asset lifecycle, from procurement to decommissioning. The Software Asset Manager monitors software utilization, ensures compliance with licensing agreements, identifies cost-reduction opportunities, and mitigates compliance risks. Strategic collaboration with IT, procurement, finance, and legal departments is crucial to align software asset management strategies with the organization's business objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Act as the primary manager for Flexera One, ensuring its effective deployment and utilization across the organization.

  • Serve as the secondary subject matter expert (SME) for the tool, providing support and guidance to other team members.

  • Oversee and manage renewal processes for critical software subscriptions such as JetBrains, Hightail, and Smartsheet.

  • Ensure timely and cost-effective renewals, collaborating closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to align renewals with organizational needs and budget constraints

  • Conduct thorough discovery, inventory, tracking, reconciliation, and reporting to maintain an accurate account of all software assets.

  • Analyse software license agreements to ensure full compliance, thus avoiding legal and financial repercussions.

  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or gaps in software licensing and usage proactively.

  • Develop and implement license optimization strategies for significant cost savings and risk mitigation.

  • Provide support during software audits and reviews, delivering accurate and timely information to auditors.

  • Establish and update software asset management policies, procedures, and best practices to reflect the latest standards.

  • Stay informed about the latest trends, developments, and best practices in software asset management and licensing.

  • Lead training and awareness programs to improve organizational understanding and adherence to software asset management practices.

  • Manage the software request queue efficiently, ensuring timely and compliant provisioning of tools.

  • Address email and Teams/Slack queries promptly, maintaining clear and effective communication with all stakeholders.

  • Oversee the proactive renewal process for software subscriptions, ensuring effective communication with both end-users and suppliers.

Must-Have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in software asset management, IT asset management, or a closely related field, with a strong emphasis on software licensing and procurement.

  • Specific experience in managing SaaS applications and familiarity with Cloud environments.

  • Comprehensive understanding of software licensing models, concepts, and practices, especially for Tier 1 Vendors.

  • Proficiency with leading software asset management tools (e.g., Flexera, ServiceNow) and experience with ITSM, ITAM, CMDB, and related tools and practices.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

Nice to Have:

  • Certification in software asset management, such as CSAM, IAITAM, or ITIL, is highly regarded.

  • Experience with managing large, complex license agreements with Tier 1 Vendors.
