Required Skills:

Hardware Systems Engineer, Storage Responsibilities:

1. Design, build, bring up, test, and land hardware systems that power the Meta Social network, which is deployed in data centers worldwide.

2. Collaborate with Original Design Manufacture (ODM) partners to design, develop, test and deploy Meta Storage hardware platforms.

3. Responsible for rapidly building and integrating polished high-fidelity prototypes and development platforms that bring new ideas to life by expressing design intent and user experience, using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for tasks.

4. Collaborate with Data Center Site Operations teams to understand installation, operation and maintenance considerations within Meta data centers, and incorporate feedback into future hardware designs.

5. This includes integrating systems, achieving stability, performance and power requirements, and driving defects to resolution with external supply chain and manufacturing partners and internal Meta partners.

6. Utilize hardware systems prototypes and development platforms to improve system performance and power analysis, debug, and optimization practices.

7. Design and develop the exact specifications for hardware platforms, including in-depth performance analysis of future Meta software environments on upcoming hardware systems.

8. Perform testing and data collection in support of hardware system technology and algorithm development.

Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field and three years of experience in the job offered or in a Hardware Systems Engineer-related occupation. Position requires three years of experience in the following:

10. Development and analysis of storage systems hardware

11. Knowledge of hardware system designs that cross multiple subsystems

12. Complex, multi-subsystem system-level troubleshooting, including hands-on experience with system performance and power analysis, debug, and optimization practices

13. Working with ODM partners for system design and delivery

14. Solution-level troubleshooting and deep-diving into software, firmware and hardware problems

15. Storage technology, including demonstrable depth in at least one of the following storage domains: Primary Storage Systems (Rotating Media and/or Solid State) or Archival Storage. Experience should span more than one media type (HDD, SSD, Tape or Optical)

16. Hardware technology, protocols, frameworks and understanding firmware and software concerns/requirements

17. Linux operating system internals (e.g. kernel dev, tracing, profiling, scheduling, IO subsystems), x86-based server hardware, storage, networking and IO stacks, and large-scale infrastructure automation

18. Scripting in Python, Perl, Ruby, or SQL and data analysis with an understanding of how to analyze complex data sets, and decompose the information into broadly consumable documentation and presentations.

$221,871/year to $231,110/year + bonus + equity + benefits
