ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The VDC BIM Specialist is a technical expert on software and technology used by the VDC Department. Creativity and problem solving are as important as technical competence in this role, as this position will help navigate our path into a rapidly evolving future. The BIM Specialist will leverage their construction industry experience and software development competencies to keep Hunt’s BIM/VDC team positioned as the industry leader in this space. This position could be based at our Bloomington, MN Headquarters (with a hybrid work schedule) or a fully remote role.
Function as a technical resource for BIM software specific issues and requests.
Complete VDC Support Tickets including:
Family Building & Modification
Template Support
Project Startup
Custom Scripting
Troubleshooting
Monitoring and Improving model/project health
Development and Management of BIM Standards
Contribution to training and education
Continuous education on all software and awareness of emerging solutions.
Provide technical expertise on all software to VDC designers.
Managing your time based on the needs of the department.
Make a more efficient VDC department through innovation and creativity.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Education & Experience Requirement: High School Diploma with trade experience or two (2) year degree in Electrical Design, or related field. Or any similar combination of education and experience.
Successful candidates will possess the following attributes:
Proficient with Bluebeam, Revit, Inventor, Navisworks and Microsoft Office.
Understanding of cutsheet/submittals.
Knowledge in Python, C# and Dynamo.
Experience with building project schedules.
Experience with building project templates.
Experience with building Revit families.
Experience with troubleshooting Autodesk suite of tools.
Experience with ACC/BIM 360.
Familiarity with National Electrical Code.
Self-driven.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.
Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl.
This position requires the ability to lift files, open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
